Torfaen Bike Club is a social enterprise and members of the National Bike Club Initiative.
Our Aim is 'To get more people cycling more often'
In Wales, Bike Club is supported by the CTC, Youth Cymru and Continyou Cymru.
- Encourage young people to use cycling as a means of transport so they can take part in more activities beyond the school day.
- Make cycling an important part of young people’s lives – as recreation, sport, exercise, a ‘green’ form of transport – and just for fun!
- Help children and young people to discover the freedom that cycling brings.
Cycling & Mountain biking can give young people freedom, independence, a practical (and environmentally friendly) means of transportation, improved health and well-being, a sense of adventure and lots of fun.
Our programmes are designed to be safe and sustainable. It can be a means of engaging young people and opening up new learning opportunities. We offer accredited solutions through ASDAN for those wishing to receive positive and QCF learning outcomes.
Cycling can easily be linked to a whole range of educational and other priorities and initiatives including:
ü Healthy Schools
ü Environmental sustainability
ü Community Focused Schools/School Effectiveness Framework
ü The 7 Core Aims of rights to Action (Children & young Peoples Plan)
ü Extending Entitlement, the National Youth Service Strategy for Wales
